Off Serangoon Harbour

6 men aboard the “Rocking Angels”. The boat which i often charter for fishing. In fact, my very first offshore trip was organized to James, a skipper well known at Punggol Marina Country Club (Now known as Marina Country Club). Many of my experiences came from his teaching. And i believed i had stepped onto his boat for about 10 times since then. But of course i had also many other tryouts with other local charters. Though his has the most memorable one till today.

Remembering once, there was an excitement that wowed the others on board. When my rod bent like 7 and the reel that cracks into noises had alarmed all of us that there’s a monster on the other side of my line. When it’s hooked, it mops away trying to get free of itself without hesitation. In pain, it strongly uses its strength to swim as far as it could, even many times i had also pumped and tried to reel it to the surface.

On and off like a “tug of war” between human and an unknown species. I knew it was a big thing but not knowing what type of it, prompted me to fight my best fight with it.

It was only after 15mins of exhaustion, and everyone was awaiting for its landing. The Stingray (Californica) had surrendered and allows everyone to comment about its defeatism. We all took photos with it, like an alien landed on earth to take pride of witnessing. And i took mine. A memorable one that i would like to share with anyone into fishing. The reward was awesome although insatiable.

As for this trip, it was still very enjoyable because i ‘d always organized it with fun and loving companies. While it matters not the catch but the waves falling onto your face, taking away the troubles, refreshing your thoughts and bringing you to relaxation is always the feelings i want on it.

So everyone was leaving the yacht-club happily. Planning for the next trip already. Thanks to Carlo, Mike, Kelvin, Sa Dee and my loving wife for this great trip. Thank God.
